Holden VF Commodore V8 Supercar Holden Racing Team #22 2016 Clipsal 500 Season Livery Driver: James Courtney
After capping off a mammoth 2015 V8 Supercars season celebrating their 25th Anniversary with multiple liveries, it was fair to say that Holden Racing Team we’re going to simplify things livery wise for the 2016 season. Unveiled in mid-February prior to the season opening Clipsal 500, HRT released their war paint for the upcoming year to much enthusiasm from their broad supporter base.
Holden designer Peter Hughes was proud to unveil his 14th regular season livery for the team; “We have focussed on adding fresh, simplistic detailing to the 2016 Holden Racing Team livery, while using the colour ways of last year’s commemorative ANZAC livery to inspire the new car for this season,” Hughes said. “We have also added a darker, more aggressive front-end appearance, and that delivers an unmistakably strong message from the team.
With 2016 representing their sixth year as driver pairing (the longest serving in HRT history) both Garth Tander and James Courtney were both enthusiastic about the new look of the Commodore and optimistic about the season ahead. Their optimism proved to be well founded once the season proper started in Adelaide with both drivers securing great results across the weekend. Courtney once again proved that the Adelaide Parklands Circuit was one of his most consistently well raced tracks in the country taking out second place in Race 1 and the top step in Race 2. Race 3 on Sunday was one that will be remembered for a long time with it being run in torrential rain but eventually Tander improved his starting position 10 places, finishing the race in third place due to some fine strategic calls by the team.
