Supercheap Auto Racing #15 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 Wildcard – Craig Lowndes / Bayley Hall
The 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000 marked a significant new chapter in the remarkable career of Australian motorsport legend Craig Lowndes, with the seven-time Bathurst winner returning to Mount Panorama aboard the #15 Supercheap Auto Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, alongside rising talent Bayley Hall.
Competing as a wildcard entry for Team 18, the striking Supercheap Auto Camaro represented a new era for the popular program, with Lowndes making the move to Charlie Schwerkolt’s operation following almost two decades with Triple Eight Race Engineering.
The #15 carried particular significance for Lowndes, marking a return to the race number that launched his extraordinary Supercars career. Thirty years earlier, Lowndes burst onto the Australian Touring Car Championship scene aboard the #15 Holden Racing Team Commodore, claiming the 1996 championship in his first full season. He would go on to claim another title carrying the famous number in 1998, cementing its place in Australian motorsport history.
Three decades later, seeing Lowndes reunited with #15 aboard a modern Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro provided a fitting connection between the early years of his career and his continuing legacy as one of Australia’s most celebrated racing drivers.
The 2026 Supercheap Auto wildcard also continued its commitment to developing emerging Australian motorsport talent, with promising young driver Bayley Hall joining Lowndes. The partnership provided Hall with an invaluable opportunity to learn alongside one of the sport’s most experienced competitors, culminating in his debut at Australia’s Great Race.
Featuring a fresh interpretation of the familiar Supercheap Auto colours, the #15 Camaro combined the program’s established identity with a striking new design for its first season under the Team 18 banner.
For Lowndes, the 2026 Bathurst 1000 marked his 33rd start in the iconic race, moving him to second on the all-time starts list and adding another milestone to an already extraordinary career.
From the return of a famous race number to a new team partnership and the next generation of Supercars talent, the #15 Supercheap Auto Racing Camaro represented a special combination of Australian motorsport history and the future of the sport.
